| 1. | 8/14/2008 6:44:00 AM | How much I like Starbucks depends on whether you mean the Starbucks in my neighborhood, or the "Starbucks" at the airport, or the Starbucks coffee urns in the company cafeterias... |
| 2. | 8/14/2008 6:45:00 AM | Just moved back from Seattle....only recent good thing they had was Mango Slushie and they don't even have that out here. The music stores were a joke. |
| 3. | 8/14/2008 7:57:00 AM | It's ubiquitous. I think they do a good job of being a ubiquitous brand. They are making efforts to be eco-friendly/humanitarian...they get "do-gooder company" props from me, I like their iced coffee drinks, I like their music merchandising, I like the fact that I know there's wireless access (though I think it should be free with a product purchase)... |
| 4. | 8/14/2008 8:39:00 AM | their coffee has always been, and still is, not worth the cost but the wifi compensates when I am travelling |
| 5. | 8/14/2008 10:22:00 AM | Love the experience but find it fundamentally wrong to pay $3 for a cup of coffee |
| 6. | 8/14/2008 10:49:00 AM | Almost always prefer to brew my own since it's cheaper and just as good or better. |
| 7. | 8/14/2008 10:57:00 AM | Neutral....the kiss of death. Probably sums up the issue. It just another Coffee shop. |
| 8. | 8/14/2008 11:01:00 AM | Ambivalent. I don't care for their coffee and "atmosphere" in that marketplace is irrelevant to me. If I don't like the product, I don't shop there. |
| 9. | 8/14/2008 11:28:00 AM | Coffee is too acidic, prefer Peets or other small roasters. |
| 10. | 8/14/2008 11:36:00 AM | Like the wifi hot spots and comfy furniture |
| 11. | 8/14/2008 11:44:00 AM | Negative about it. Overly ubiquitous, diminished quality, hate the names of sizes, overly aggressive. |
| 12. | 8/14/2008 11:47:00 AM | I like the Pikes Roast much better than their regular bitter blend. Makes me more willing to go there more often. |
| 13. | 8/14/2008 11:51:00 AM | Love the atmosphere, convenience, wifi, locations--but am thoroughly pissed that they've dropped sugar-free mocha from the menu. When I called, they essentially said nobody bought it--even though Coffee Beanery, Biggbys, and Caribou all still offer it on their menus. What do they know that Starbucks doesn't? |
| 14. | 8/14/2008 12:01:00 PM | The raw product, in terms of beans, is hard to beat. The product is HUGE improvement for "office coffee" versus the traditional suppliers of that. The stores are another thing. |
| 15. | 8/14/2008 12:10:00 PM | I would rather support an indie coffeehouse, but the competition by Starbucks makes that difficult. |
| 16. | 8/14/2008 12:20:00 PM | I don't hate it but I'm on the negative side of the equation. They have killed the brand's early special qualities by over-expanding. |
| 17. | 8/14/2008 12:24:00 PM | It's okay. Coffee consistent but a little too much "acid" compared to other independent coffee houses who have a smoother, better quality cup of coffee without the "pretentions". |
| 18. | 8/14/2008 12:32:00 PM | Besides the ever-changing array of merchandise and some new beverages, the nearest Starbucks hasn't changed. |
| 19. | 8/14/2008 12:35:00 PM | Coffee tastes like they burned the beans. I'd rather have Caribou or Dunkin Donuts. While the latter isn't "glamorous" they make GREAT coffee.
Starbucks is oo pricey |
| 20. | 8/14/2008 12:44:00 PM | Prefer getting coffee at Dunkin Donuts |
| 21. | 8/14/2008 12:44:00 PM | It has become too ubiquitous which has taken some of the gloss off the brand. They also should never have done licensed stores because some of them are a disaster. Small things like not being able to use one's starbucks card in a licensed store are very annoying. |
| 22. | 8/14/2008 12:52:00 PM | It feels more corporate/controlled than used to. Don't like multiple baristas correcting me from "non-fat, sugar-free vanilla latte" to "skinny vanilla latte." |
| 23. | 8/14/2008 12:55:00 PM | Its fast, crowded, dirty and plastic |
| 24. | 8/14/2008 1:04:00 PM | I kind of like their brand... but the coffee is expensive and it seems almost out-of-reach. |
| 25. | 8/14/2008 1:09:00 PM | Too many locations, lose the feel it had |
| 26. | 8/14/2008 1:13:00 PM | Hate is a little strong. I'm just not a big fan. More like "don't particularly like it." |
| 27. | 8/14/2008 1:14:00 PM | some locations are great, others are awful |
| 28. | 8/14/2008 1:21:00 PM | coffee is unhealthy |
| 29. | 8/14/2008 1:22:00 PM | Only good news now is hat you can easily find a seat. |
| 30. | 8/14/2008 1:24:00 PM | Mostly, I like the product. The atmosphere in-store isn't as consistent from store to store as it once was. |
| 31. | 8/14/2008 1:25:00 PM | nothing special, expensive specialty coffee I can get cheaper elsewhere |
| 32. | 8/14/2008 1:28:00 PM | They have lost their focus. Music, books, airline radio stations, food beyond basics. |
| 33. | 8/14/2008 1:28:00 PM | I don't like the Pike Place Roast - it seems to me they went the way of Dunkin Donuts in offering a very general roast as their daily roast (not a brand, by the way, I associate with Starbucks). Some stores offer the Pike Place & a Roast of the day - some do not. By late at night, they stop brewing the Roast of the Day. What first attracted me to Starbucks were the rich flavors of their Roasts (Sumatra, for example). |
| 34. | 8/14/2008 1:35:00 PM | there's better coffee out there, but Starbucks has locations nearby |
| 35. | 8/14/2008 1:45:00 PM | But like to help keep competition alive too, especially independents. |
| 36. | 8/14/2008 1:57:00 PM | As a brand person, I really should say "Love it" because if any other omnipresent retail brand delivered with the panache these guys still do, we'd be celebrating. |
| 37. | 8/14/2008 1:58:00 PM | It was cool whe it was rare. Now it's a 7-11 of caffeine. |
| 38. | 8/14/2008 2:00:00 PM | Frustrated with all the changes from cup color and design to the insipid Pike's Place coffee. |
| 39. | 8/14/2008 2:17:00 PM | I commend them for their initial efforts to establish their brand as THE boutique coffee. |
| 40. | 8/14/2008 2:32:00 PM | still have great coffee. but their 'size' labels (tall, venti) still give me a negative perception - too snooty |
| 41. | 8/14/2008 2:38:00 PM | Feel it is grossly overpriced and in this economically difficult time... it is easy to be the first to go |
| 42. | 8/14/2008 2:43:00 PM | An always reliable meeting place, decent, if over-priced, product |
| 43. | 8/14/2008 2:46:00 PM | It is ubiquitous, so I can always get a decent cup of coffee no matter where I am. Is it the best cup of coffee? Probably not. |
| 44. | 8/14/2008 2:49:00 PM | Have gone from the fancy drinks to plain coffee... add my own stuff and sweetner. |
| 45. | 8/14/2008 2:58:00 PM | The beans have always been over-roasted, the coffee is too bitter, and the coffee-based drinks are overpriced liquid candy that would be better sold at Godiva. |
| 46. | 8/14/2008 2:59:00 PM | It's a bit of a drive for me and there's another cool coffee place closeby (Seattle's best) - although I can't drive through there. |
| 47. | 8/14/2008 3:28:00 PM | Only go at airports usually |
| 48. | 8/14/2008 3:32:00 PM | don't love the coffee, too weak and watered down
and their staff always tries to sell me something to eat - they often ask several times - it's really
annoying, especially when I have my kids with me. |
| 49. | 8/14/2008 3:43:00 PM | In between neutral and hate; I like the product when I (rarely) have it, but don't like seeing a Starbucks everywhere I go, especially knowing how many independent coffee shops they've probably forced out of business |
| 50. | 8/14/2008 3:44:00 PM | I've never liked their coffee as much as that of other coffee shops--Starbucks tends to burn their beans. Plus, it has gotten to the point that many people don't go there for the coffee (which is perhaps why burnt beans don't really matter to Starbucks), but for the image of being seen there or saying they go there or holding that cup with the distinctive logo as they walk into work |
| 51. | 8/14/2008 4:12:00 PM | I like it, but don't go often because it is priced so high. It's a fantastic place to meet with people and socialize outside of the "bar" scene or have informal business meetings. |
| 52. | 8/14/2008 4:14:00 PM | Not crazy about the seeming lack of training that is occuring at these stores - the associates have no passion anymore!! |
| 53. | 8/14/2008 4:19:00 PM | While I don't "hate" it, I don't like it very much. |
| 54. | 8/14/2008 4:28:00 PM | I have a natural preference for my local neighborhood coffee joint, but go to starbucks if it's more convenient (when I'm not close to home). |
| 55. | 8/14/2008 4:28:00 PM | as I travel, I realize that a Starbucks beats local coffee shops, except in cities like Santa Fe or Missoula, where there are sophisticated coffee drinkers |
| 56. | 8/14/2008 4:51:00 PM | Used to love it but it's becoming too much of a commodity to be "special". |
| 57. | 8/14/2008 4:52:00 PM | always thought too expensive. Also not crazy about their coffee -- too bitter |
| 58. | 8/14/2008 5:04:00 PM | I look for it when I travel because, it's like MickeyD's -- consistent. |
| 59. | 8/14/2008 5:05:00 PM | lost some allure in my opinion in past 12 mos |
| 60. | 8/14/2008 6:07:00 PM | I don't drink coffee, but do drink tea, and this is one of the few places I can get something besides Liptons on the road |
| 61. | 8/14/2008 9:10:00 PM | It's fine in a pinch. I like their beans and occasionally a cup of their brewed coffee, but their espresso drinks are watery and terrible. |
| 62. | 8/14/2008 9:27:00 PM | overpriced and coffee quality has suffered |
| 63. | 8/14/2008 10:09:00 PM | Living in Seattle, it does not hold the appeal it once had for me when I lived in the Midwest. |
| 64. | 8/15/2008 1:21:00 AM | hate is a strong term. I don't particularly like it. |
| 65. | 8/15/2008 1:44:00 AM | the coffee is awlful, cafe is cute |
| 66. | 8/15/2008 1:53:00 AM | too many people sit there all day some without making a purchase! |
| 67. | 8/15/2008 8:35:00 AM | When I was at school we often went to hand out there after lessons but as I have got older I feel it is rather over priced and that they don't take ethical issues as seriously as other coffee shop brands. Plus the world domination is rather un-nerving. |
| 68. | 8/15/2008 3:53:00 PM | Not sure what to think about it anymore, ut the attitude meter is slowly sliding down with a slow head-shake |
| 69. | 8/15/2008 4:33:00 PM | Not the worst, but not the best either. Too much of a chain. Trend is going back towards uniqueness instead of the safety of the known. Safety is overrated. :) |
| 70. | 8/18/2008 2:28:00 PM | I've never mastered ordering at Starbucks. Don't get the code names for the drinks. And they don't get tea. |
| 71. | 8/18/2008 2:34:00 PM | not as often as a year ago. |
| 72. | 8/18/2008 3:25:00 PM | Love it |
| 73. | 8/18/2008 3:50:00 PM | I used to think they had it figured out but now it seems they can't hit the broadside of a barn. |
| 74. | 8/18/2008 8:16:00 PM | i don't like the actual retial experience but appreciate the company values..eg employees medical, good salary |
