4.8/14/2008 10:05:00 AM5 years ago, I would have answered &quot;ambiance&quot; to this question. But nowadays, the ambiance has dried up, but has been replaced by convenience (there are so many of them, it is an easy reference location to tell someone you'll meet them at, even if you don't buy anything to drink anymore).

11.8/14/2008 11:47:00 AMNew Pikes Roast is much better coffee flavor to me. I travel quite a bit internationally and Starbucks is everywhere and pretty predictable in execution. A bit of home away from home! Good prep areas set up to prepare coffee yourself - cream, SnL, cinnamon, etc. Food in international locations is generally much better than in the U.S.
12.8/14/2008 12:01:00 PMFor a time I was a &quot;regular&quot; at a store near where my daughter had weekly lessons. The staff got to know me and really made an effort on things like refils, etc.

18.8/14/2008 12:46:00 PMTheir variety of different options for drinks. They offer soy milk while others such as Dunkin Donuts do not offer this option which is a necessity for me.

I used to believe Starbucks was the best, but I have found Intelligensia and Metropolis to be significantly better. I used to buy Starbucks for home, but not any more. I am able to rationalize buying these more expensive brews for home now.

68.8/15/2008 2:39:00 PMThe atmosphere doesn't feel as unique/fun. Maybe it's because I notice the same seating and decor at all 3 Starbucks by my home. And the food offering is embarassing and not particularly healthy.
