What's your favorite Starbucks alternative?
#Response DateOther:
.8/14/2008 6:44:00 AMJust their (McDonalds) iced coffee... not the hot icky stuff.
.8/14/2008 6:47:00 AMAlso, Caribou Coffee
.8/14/2008 7:57:00 AMCaribou Coffee does a great job around this area (I live in Iowa).
.8/14/2008 8:39:00 AMauthentic Italian coffee
.8/14/2008 9:38:00 AMPanera is a better meeting place and their food is good. I make better coffee at home than Starbucks does.
.8/14/2008 9:39:00 AMCosta Coffee
.8/14/2008 10:54:00 AMI think McDonald's entry into the coffee category really hurt Starbucks...badge value isn't there w/McD's, but the price/quality value is.
.8/14/2008 10:58:00 AMI live in the UK - so I love Dunkin Donuts in the US, but they're gone from this market. We have Caffe Nero, great coffee if you're ever over here!
.8/14/2008 11:01:00 AMLocal coffee shops are favored when I'm "out for coffee". Tim Horton's is reliable when I'm on the road and want coffee in a hurry.
.8/14/2008 11:51:00 AMBiggby's, right around the corner from our house, or Caribou, just down the street from my 'standard' Starbucks, and also offering outdoor seating.
.8/14/2008 12:01:00 PMIn Louisville, that's Heine Bros. and Java Brewing. But hey, White Castle has a great "traditional" coffee that rivals McDonalds. So does Krispy Kreme!
.8/14/2008 12:09:00 PMIt's Starbucks coffee anyway; it's all we buy!
.8/14/2008 12:10:00 PMPanera
.8/14/2008 12:21:00 PMFavorite and most convenient are two different things. I will not drive past a Dunkin Donuts to get to my favorite.
.8/14/2008 12:24:00 PMMy niece & her husband have a coffee plantation in Africa, she has a roasting business & coffee shop in S. Carolina. I get all my coffee from her so I prefer my "homemade" brew because of the quality of coffee I use.
.8/14/2008 12:26:00 PMPeet's
.8/14/2008 12:40:00 PMTea! Water!
.8/14/2008 12:44:00 PMI don't really have one. Most of the chains listed above provide a very different experience and product than Starbucks. Not necessarily better or worse - just different.
.8/14/2008 12:51:00 PMCaribou!
.8/14/2008 12:52:00 PMDancing Goats, Decatur, GA. Owned by Batdorf Bronson.
.8/14/2008 12:55:00 PMI'd switch to Caribou in a minute if there was one in my neighborhood. Its not that they offer a better ambiance, but I have always liked their offering better when I've encountered their shops on vacation or in airports.
.8/14/2008 12:55:00 PMCaribou
.8/14/2008 1:14:00 PMI don't go anywhere other than starbucks
.8/14/2008 1:17:00 PMconsistency of specialty drinks is not as good from one Starbucks to another than it used to be. The baristas need more training.
.8/14/2008 1:21:00 PMwater
.8/14/2008 1:27:00 PMCaribou Coffee
.8/14/2008 1:28:00 PMCaribou Coffee
.8/14/2008 1:36:00 PMThere is a no alternative.
.8/14/2008 1:44:00 PMCaribou Coffee
.8/14/2008 1:47:00 PMCaribou
.8/14/2008 1:57:00 PMIn Toronto, Balzac's coffee, a local chain. In the US, Peet's.
.8/14/2008 1:58:00 PMPeet's
.8/14/2008 2:00:00 PMCaribou sometimes
.8/14/2008 2:17:00 PMIF I was a java junkie, I would most likely visit McD's for my joe.
.8/14/2008 2:27:00 PMShipley's Donuts.
.8/14/2008 2:31:00 PMCaribou Coffee
.8/14/2008 2:32:00 PMbecause they have good coffee. it's all about the coffee
.8/14/2008 2:38:00 PMI am a DD girl- I like the taste better, the price better and the simplicity of ordering
.8/14/2008 2:42:00 PMwith local coffee shop a close second but I can't afford to hang at coffee shops more than 1-2 times per month. Homemade is best.
.8/14/2008 2:43:00 PMTullys
.8/14/2008 2:50:00 PMI like to support the local businesses, those that know customer service!
.8/14/2008 2:59:00 PMThe only coffee product I'll buy from Mac's is regular coffee with cream. It's good.
.8/14/2008 3:28:00 PMCoffeeWorks is just yummy and the new shop Sargent's is awesome.
.8/14/2008 3:43:00 PMor local coffee shop or Dunkin Donuts which IS local in this region
.8/14/2008 3:46:00 PMCaribou (how do you not have that listed? I mean, Wendy's? seriously?)
.8/14/2008 3:48:00 PMCaribou
.8/14/2008 4:00:00 PMPeet's
.8/14/2008 4:02:00 PMAt least I can use my own cup at home!
.8/14/2008 4:07:00 PMAnd I use Starbucks at home although I can no longer get the big/club bags since Sam's Club stopped carrying the brand.
.8/14/2008 4:12:00 PMSurprisingly - McDonalds has captured my morning coffee dollars. An associate at work kept showing up with coffee and brought me one. It was really good - and so much more for only $2.50!
.8/14/2008 4:14:00 PMPeet's
.8/14/2008 4:19:00 PMI really like the DD coffee.
.8/14/2008 4:19:00 PMVERY Local
.8/14/2008 4:28:00 PMBut McDonald's has a great cup of coffee too. It's about the only thing I go there for. That and an egg mcmuffin.
.8/14/2008 4:28:00 PMPeets and Royal Ground
.8/14/2008 4:40:00 PMCaribou
.8/14/2008 4:52:00 PMCup O Joe
.8/14/2008 4:53:00 PMDunkin Donuts is less expensive, faster and typically more convenience. D&D has more stores (@4) than Starbucks in our town.
.8/14/2008 5:04:00 PMPeet's.
.8/14/2008 5:39:00 PMPanera
.8/14/2008 6:01:00 PMin Canada - Second Cup
.8/14/2008 6:51:00 PMPeets is actually better, just less convenient to my office
.8/14/2008 8:00:00 PMIlly Cafe coffee brewed at home
.8/14/2008 8:03:00 PMBetter coffee, lower prices, but no seating.
.8/14/2008 8:11:00 PMCaribou
.8/14/2008 8:49:00 PMLocal coffee shop is more personable, more knowledgeable, has better quality control and has better, fresher coffee, which Starbucks no longer has.
.8/14/2008 8:56:00 PMCaribou
.8/14/2008 11:16:00 PMPeets, Coffee Bean

.8/15/2008 7:10:00 AMRoasterie Cafe, Latte Land
.8/15/2008 12:32:00 PMMcDonald's is getting much better at producing a reasonably robust coffee. And Tim Hortons coffee if weak and rather than raise price they shrank the size of everything. They've lost me to McD's.
.8/15/2008 5:37:00 PMEinstein's Bagels
.8/15/2008 8:21:00 PMNespresso
